Google has announced a new user interface for sharing Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and other Drive files. The redesigned UI makes it easier for G Suite users to share files with relevant people, without extending permissions beyond what’s needed.
The new sharing dialogue visually separates sharing with people and groups from link-sharing. A new “Copy Link” button has been added to help users get the link without changing permissions. Finally, the new interface shows who has access to the item more clearly.
Streamlining the sharing process is just one of the actions taken by Google to improve G Suite collaboration in light of the current surge in remote working.
The redesign is being rolled out for all G Suite and Drive Enterprise users. Expect to see the new UI replace the current one by the end of June.
