A team from Refractiv will abseil down one of the tallest buildings in Leeds to raise money for the city’s Candlelighters children’s cancer charity.

The Cloud Solutions Provider and Google for Work Premier Partner, will join other fundraisers and the organiser of the event, property company Bruntwood, on Saturday, September 5.

At a 140ft, Bruntwood’s ‘West One’ is one of the tallest buildings in Leeds and will definitely test the nerves of the novice abseilers. In order to complete the challenge, each person must raise at least £100 which will then be donated to Candlelighters.

Anna Hull, Leeds Charity Champion at Bruntwood, said: “We wanted to support this brilliant local charity by doing something both exhilarating and challenging, so I think the abseil ticks both of the those boxes! The response from our team and our suppliers has been overwhelming, so now we’re just keeping our fingers crossed for kind weather and even kinder sponsors”

Candlelighters is a charity formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer, ex-patients and the medical staff who treat them. Candlelighters provides essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.

With 150 children diagnosed with cancer every year in Yorkshire alone, the event aims to raise at least £4,000, which will pay for 20 new patient grants and cover the unexpected cost that a children’s cancer diagnosis brings.
