UNESCO Sardona have used the G Suite project workspace tool OverDRIVE to share huge amounts of publicly funded, open access information about their world famous World heritage site in Switzerland.
UNESCO Sardona is a world heritage site because of its unique geological formations. The Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona in the north-eastern part of the country covers a substantial mountainous area, which features seven peaks that rise above 3,000m and is a hugely significant natural phenomena.
The Challenge
UNESCO Sardona wanted a simple and efficient way to manage and share large amounts of publicly funded data with local officials, tourist organisations, visitor centres, teachers, scientists, hikers and even the media. Whilst the website is maintained by the Sites Office, external scientists, educators and adventure planners all contribute to the site, which contains a huge variety of scientific and educational resources, aimed at a number of target groups and stakeholders.
The Solution
UNESCO Sardona already used Google Drive to store and update data but using OverDRIVE meant that this information could be publicly shared as a website in a simple and user friendly way. Scientific and educational materials are now sorted and displayed by target group and topics and the site also serves as a Partnership and membership infopoint and incorporates a Registration Process for scientific work being conducted in the region.
